The Wildlife?
Scottish Crossbills & Crested Tits calling
from Scots Pines, Golden Eagle soaring overhead,
Slavonian Grebes quietly diving in a secluded
loch, Red Grouse with the chance of an elusive
Ptarmigan or Capercaillie. Eider Duck, Common & Velvet
Scoter forming rafts offshore, maybe accompanied
by Long-tailed Ducks. Pink-footed Geese &
Whooper Swans arriving from Iceland and winter
thrushes calling overhead. The site of Red
Deer “rutting”, Red Squirrels
feeding close by, Blue Hares running over
the moors and spotlighting a Pine Martin
at night. Exciting wildlife in stunning
scenery!

west over the “Pass of the Cattle”
[the highest navigable road in Britain] to
the Kyle of Lochalsh and back via Glen Shiel
& Loch Ness, and east to the Black Isle
and along the north east coast to Golspie.
