A great day out across the Channel
just north of Calais for wintering sea-duck
including divers [Red-throated, Black-throated
& Great Northern], grebes [Red-necked,
Slavonian & Black-necked], Shag,
Eider, Long-tailed Duck, Greater Scaup,
Common & Velvet Scoters, Red-breasted
Merganser & Goosander, along with
Purple Sandpiper and perhaps “white-winged”
gulls. Nearby Peregrine, Common Buzzard
& Hen Harrier occur, along with
Golden Plover, Snow Bunting & Shore
Lark.
