& Accommodation?
From London [via Madrid] overnighting
to/from the Falklands in Santiago, Chile
[ Diego de Almagro Hotel]. On the Falklands,
2 nts. at the homely Pebble Island Lodge,
2 nts. at the simple Settlement on Saunders
Island[the only accommodation on both
islands!], 2 nts. at the delightful
Sea Lion Lodge on Sea Lion Island and
final night at the comfortable Malvina
House Hotel, Port Stanley, with a visit
to Kidney Cove. All islands visited
via internal flights throughout. |
The Wildlife?
Hopefully the accompanying

Tour” in 2007] give you some idea!
Spectacular colonies of King, Gentoo
& Rockhopper Penguins, stunning
Black-browed Albatrosses at the rookery
on the cliff edge. Beautiful Silvery
& White-tufted Grebes along with
Yellow-billed Pintail & Black-necked
Swans on remote pools. Flushing a Magellanic
Snipe perhaps? Tame Falkland Island
Steamer Ducks, Ruddy-headed, Upland
& Kelp Geese, Blackish & Megallanic
Oystercatchers on the shingle banks.
Endemic Tussac Birds & Cobb’s
Wrens. Southern Giant Petrels, Striated
Caracaras, Falkland Islands Skua –
all within range of your camera lens!
Not forgetting the Southern Sea Lions
& the Southern Elephant Seals, the
largest pinniped in the world, plus
beautiful wild flowers inc. Diddle-dee
& Christmas Bush. Bring plenty of
spare camera batteries! |
