The Ambience
Tresco – An idyllic paradise
island some 30 miles west of Land’s
End with spectacular white sandy beaches
surrounded by turquoise-blue waters,
rugged moorland, ancient woodland and
sheltered bulb fields; the “jewel”
in the islands’ crown. Easily
accessible, Tresco is invitingly beautiful;
a kaleidoscope of colour – refreshing!
Adjacent to Tresco lies Bryher –
wild and untamed, overlooking the Norrard
Rocks and facing the roaring, blue Atlantic
Ocean. |

The Migrant Birds
Great Northern Diver, Purple Heron, Common
and Sandwich Terns, Whimbrel, Golden Plover
and Dotterel, Hobby, Osprey and Marsh Harrier,
Red-Rumped Swallow, Sedge, Reed and Grasshopper
Warblers, Whinchat and Northern Wheatear,
Tree Pipit, Spotted Flycatcher, Woodchat and
Golden Oriole to name just a few! |
The Itinerary
Apart from the Tresco Great Pool
and famous Abbey Garden, come and cruise around
the Eastern Isles and visit St Martins to
see Fulmars, Shags and Atlantic Seals or visit
Bryher and The Northern Rocks for Guillemots,
Razorbills and Manx Shearwaters and St Agnes
and Annet for Puffins. Not forgetting the
wildflowers, especially Dwarf Pansy and Orange
Birdsfoot, both not seen on the mainland.
Then the butterflies – Speckled Wood,
Peacock or a Clouded Yellow. Tresco is very
much for the discerning naturalist! |

Your Tour Leader
All tours will be led by ornithologist
David Rosair who operates Island Ventures
and leads tours around the islands of Britain
and overseas. Author of “The Photographic
Guide to the Waders of the World”, he
has made over 80 visits to Tresco during the
last 35 years. |
